When you’re feeling overworked and overwhelmed, there’s nothing more satisfying than just getting away from regular life for a while. This impressive retreat in southeastern Nebraska is the perfect place to do just that.
Dana Farms at Mayberry is located just outside of Steinauer in Pawnee County. The private, gated resort offers 200 acres of peace, quiet, and connection with nature.
There are three private cabins available, the largest of which can accommodate up to 14 guests. The cabins have full housekeeping services, but you'll need to bring your own pillows, blankets and/or sleeping bags, and dinnerware.
Each log cabin is decorated in a style that flows well with the natural beauty outside. The two smaller cabins are quite cozy at 420 square feet, allowing you to stay close to your loved ones during your visit.
Although they aren't ultra-luxurious hotel-like cabins, you won't exactly be roughing it here at Dana Farms at Mayberry. There's electricity and running water, as well as a public shower with hot water.
Each cabin has a west-facing covered porch overlooking the scenic 22-acre fishing lake. The lake is well stocked, so if you're hoping to catch that night's dinner you won't be disappointed.
The entire area is a nature lover's dream. The rolling hills of southeastern Nebraska are just breathtaking. There are specially designated places here for optimal wildlife watching, or you can simply wander out on your own to enjoy the sights.
There are miles of walking trails to explore. If you prefer something a little more strenuous, there are volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, and croquet available.
Because this is private land and there are only three cabins, you won't be too crowded by other guests all jostling to use the same areas. There's enough space for everyone to spread out and enjoy the scenery.
After you've tired yourselves out with a full day of fishing, hiking, and sports (or lying around with a good book), return to the cabin area for a cookout. If you'd rather not do any of the work, Dana Farms at Mayberry also offers hot meals for purchase.
You can find Dana Farms at Mayberry on 614th Ave between Road 717 and 718, four miles west of Steinauer. Get more information and book your stay at their website.
