The downtown area is an important part of any town. After all, this particular area is what started the town many years ago. Most downtown areas feature specialty shops, restaurants, theaters, and so much more. The downtown area, or as many refer to it as “Main Street,” truly is the heart of the community.
There are many wonderful Main Streets located throughout Nevada, and listed below are 7 of the very best.
1. VIRGINIA CITY
Virginia City is one of the largest historical districts in the country, and its downtown area is straight out of the Old West. In this historical downtown area, you can have a drink at a saloon, tour a museum, take a stroll across authentic wooden sidewalks, and so much more.
2. BOULDER CITY
Downtown Boulder City features many unique boutiques and a variety of restaurants. The downtown area is a great place to stop and visit while on the way to Hoover Dam.
3. CARSON CITY
The downtown area of Carson City offers many shopping and dining opportunities. Two of the main events that are held downtown include the monthly Wine Walks and the annual Nevada Day Parade.
4. ELY
Ely is one of the most beautiful towns in the West, and its historical downtown area is just as charming. Centered in the heart of downtown Ely is Hotel Nevada and Gambling.
5. GARDNERVILLE
The charming downtown area of Gardnerville features lovely antique shops, casinos, restaurants and hotels. This historic town is a great place to spend the day.
6. AUSTIN
Austin is a charming town that's nestled within the beautiful Toiyabe Mountain Range. Its downtown area features a variety of shops, which include jewelry shops, antique shops and gift/souvenir shops.
7. LOVELOCK
Lovelock was established in 1868, and it's the only incorporated city in Pershing County. The main feature of Lovelock's downtown area is Lovers Lock Plaza. Lovers Lock Plaza is located behind the Pershing County Courthouse. At this unique landmark, lovers get to place a lock on a chain to express their love for each other.
