New Jersey isn’t known for its barbecue but we do offer some pretty mouthwatering options. I’ve covered quite a few in the past but today I’m focusing on something extra special – an authentic smokehouse. What makes a smokehouse different than your average barbecue joint? Meat is smoked over wood at a lower temperature for a longer time; this process maintains moisture and adds flavor.
1911 Smokehouse Bar-B-Que officially opened on October 1, 2015. It has been thriving ever since.
Plans are already in the works for an expansion, set to include a three season room and an elevated deck. Private cooking sessions, bartending lessons, and cocktail parties are also coming soon.
As it is, it's already pretty great. There's a casual indoor dining area and a lovely outdoor patio. They have one of the largest outdoor screens in the area - perfect for summer nights!
The ribs are fantastic, as is the house-smoked salmon. The menu offers plenty more, including affordable priced chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, and burgers (including vegetarian options).
But you'll definitely want to try the wings. The lemon pepper are a favorite. You'll also enjoy flavors like Jamaican Jerk, Old Bay, and Sriracha Bourbon.
If you happen to be in or around our state’s capital, visit 1911 Smokehouse Bar-B-Que at 11 W Front Street in Trenton. You can score a free shot every night at 19:11! For more of the best wings in New Jersey, check out Charlie’s Bar in Somers Point.
