One of the coolest things about visiting Wyoming is the opportunity for time travel. From ghost towns to Old West boardwalks to dinosaur graveyards, you can take your pick of bygone eras to experience. When you’re in the mood to sit a spell in a simpler time, there’s a tiny little town along I-25 that has just what you’re looking for. Right on the main road sits the oldest soda fountain in Wyoming, where they’re still serving up fountain drinks just the way they used to over 100 years ago.

The building was originally constructed in 1914 and served as a doctor's office and a pharmacy before the soda fountain was moved to the location in 1927. It continued to house both the fountain and the pharmacy for a few years. When the pharmacy license expired, the soda fountain became the star of the show.

It's one of the few places, not only in the state, but across the country that still does things the old-fashioned way.

Plus, there's more than just sweet treats at this soda shop. Chugwater is famous for its chili so, naturally, it's on the menu along with smothered burritos, homemade soups, and delicious biscuits and gravy.
There's a beer garden, too. It's a fun place to relax with a cold one and pass the time.
You can even pick up a few convenience-store items at the Chugwater Soda Fountain, and there is a gift shop, as well, where you can find the perfect souvenir of your visit.
