As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
New Jersey offers some truly incredible accommodations. From one of the best new hotels in America (The Asbury) to the charming inns of Cape May, there’s always something to delight travelers. But if you’re looking to feel like royalty, there’s really only one place to go. A bed and breakfast crafted in your wildest dreams, you’ll certainly want to stay at Skylands Manor.
You may be familiar with Skylands Manor as a popular wedding venue, or as part of Ringwood State Park.
It's occasionally open for tours (one Sunday per month from March through November), along with the nearby Ringwood Manor. Both are gorgeous, though you can only spend the night in one. A weekend getaway here is sure to make you feel like a king or queen. Inspired by English Jacobean architecture common 400 years ago,
it is a modern day masterpiece.
There are few places to spend the night quite as lovely as this.
Built in the 1920s, it is constructed of native stone and half-timbers. The weathered stone facade of this 44-room mansion blends into the landscape. The mansion contains rooms with antique paneling as well as new American Oak paneling and large windows, some of which contain 16th-century stained glass medallions. Moulded plaster ceilings and an elaborately carved staircase add the finishing touches to this impressive estate.
There are 21 beautifully appointed rooms and suites, some starting at just $99 per night. Of course, prices go up as you add amenities and square footage. Still, it's surprisingly reasonable. A Knight's Suite starts at around $250 night and includes a gorgeous sitting area and private study. Since Skylands Manor serve sas a bed and breakfast, you can expect delicious treats (a continental breakfast) in the morning, whichever room you stay in.

The grounds make the experience even more enchanting.
Skylands Manor is located on the grounds of the award winning New Jersey State Botanical Gardens. Explore 100 acres of formal botanical gardens within the 1,000 acres of natural woodlands that make up the Skylands, where rolling lawns, verandas and stone terraces add to the ambiance. Dedicated in 1984, the gardens contains an extensive variety of plants, evergreens and deciduous trees and shrubs in specialty areas. Of particular interest are the crabapple vista, terraced gardens, perennial and annual gardens and woodland paths. The extensive vistas of the garden and view of Ramapo Mountains frame this beautiful botanical delight.
And, of course, there's the surrounding state park.
Ringwood State Park offers plenty to do, all year long. There are trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, cross country skiing and snowmobiling. The park is also home to the spectacular Shepherd Lake Recreation Area. Swimming, boating, canoeing and fishing are permitted on the 74-acre lake with boat rentals available.
