This Might Just Be The Most Peaceful Town In All Of Washington
From our sweeping city skylines to the rolling hills of the Palouse, Washington has something for everyone. And while we’ve got plenty of small, laid back towns scattered across the state, if we had to vote for the most peaceful among them, we’d award Port Gamble with the title. There’s just something about this sleepy little waterfront town of 916 people that completely relaxes you.

It's fairly isolated, reachable by car or by ferry.

The general store has been open since 1916, and they just welcomed the addition of a cafe called Scratch Kitchen.

You'll find a lot of small shops here. Mrs. Muir's House of Ghosts & Magic is of particular interest since it pays homage to the town's reported hauntings.

This is the Walker-Ames House, Port Gamble's largest historic home and the site of lots of paranormal activity over the years. Built in 1889 for lead mill mechanic William Walker, the house has been empty since the mill closed in 1995... except for the ghosts, of course. This is said to be the most haunted building in Washington.

The Puget Mill Company was its most lucrative business, causing a big 100-year economic boom. It's a lot quieter now, but the annual Old Mill Days festival in July pays homage to its roots.

Port Gamble is the perfect place to venture for a quiet weekend away.
Port Gamble definitely deserves a place on the list of Washington’s most charming small towns.
