The William B. Bankhead National Forest, which is located near Double Springs, covers 181,230 acres and is one of Alabama's four National Forests. It's a popular spot for hiking, hunting, horseback riding, fishing, canoeing and more. Because of its numerous waterfalls, the William B. Bankhead National Forest is known as the "Land of a Thousand Waterfalls."
3. Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge - Eufaula
The Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge in located on Lake Eufaula and covers more than 11,000 acres. Established in 1964, this beautiful refuge's main purpose is to protect a variety of endangered and threatened wildlife species. Weathington Park covers 13 acres and overlooks the Tennessee River. It's located off the beaten path, but its spectacular view makes the journey worth it.

5. Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve - Tuscumbia
Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve covers approximately 700 acres and is located in rural Colbert County, Alabama. This privately owned nature preserve, which is open year-round, offers more than 15 miles of scenic hiking trails.

6. Delano Park - Decatur
Delano Park, which was named after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's mother, was established in 1887 and is one of the South's most beautiful parks. 7. Meaher State Park - Spanish Fort

8. Dothan Area Botanical Gardens - Dothan

9. Little River Canyon National Preserve - Fort Payne
Little River Canyon National Preserve is located atop Lookout Mountain and is one of Alabama's most beautiful places. It offers a variety of recreational activities for all ages such as fishing, kayaking, hiking and camping.
