Buffalo is full of, and surrounded by, plenty of natural beauty. We have waterways and waterfalls that would impress just about anyone; rock formations and rolling green hills that provide serenity just outside the city limits. But some of the best and most impressive wonders didn’t come from the works of Mother Nature. Here are 10 of the most enchanting man-made wonders in Buffalo.
We couldn't possibly put this list together without giving credit to the Erie Canal. This man-made passageway gave Buffalo its rise, after all. While it doesn't look the same today as it did back in the 1800s, you can view the Erie Canal by taking a stroll along the waterfront near Canalside.
Man-made wonders in Buffalo are easy to spot, and several of them were created by the same man: Frank Lloyd Wright. This famous architect designed some of Buffalo's best structures. Pictured here is the Darwin D. Martin House, located on Jewett Parkway.

It's hard not to notice Buffalo City Hall when you're downtown Buffalo. This Art Deco building is one of those man-man wonders that makes a big impression, and rightfully so. And while the structure is certainly beautiful from the outside, the real beauty can be seen from within. From stained glass windows to an awe-inspiring observation deck, City Hall is a must-see.

The Gold Dome building was completed in 1901 during the prime of the Pan-American Exposition. The building is one of the most impressive of the man-made wonders in Buffalo. It is a City of Buffalo Landmark and the last renovation of the dome took nearly 150,000 paper-thin sheets of gold leaf to cover. Amazing!
While we're on the topic of some seriously impressive structures... we'd be remiss not to include the H.H. Richardson Complex. This is one of Buffalo's most iconic man-made wonders, designated as a National Historic Landmark. Just recently, the campus began being renewed after several years of abandonment. While there's still plenty of work to be done, the progress is definitely a must-see!

Buffalo just wouldn't be Buffalo without our iconic grain silos along the waterfront. While these could certainly be misconstrued as an eye sore, Buffalo has found a way to make them beautiful. At night, you can view these man-made wonders illuminated by dazzling light shows!

This jaw-dropping place in Buffalo will blow you away every single time. The building itself is man-made, but the interior of the Botanical Gardens is full of lush greenery, flowers, and plants that will take your breath away. This is one of the most popular of Buffalo's man-made wonders, especially for Buffalonians needing a warm-up in the winter months!
Frederick Law Olmsted is one man who created several wonders in the Queen City. His park designs led to the first urban park system in the country. To this day, the Buffalo Olmsted Parks are some of the best and most beautiful places to visit in the city!
