Is there any food that defines Tennessee better than the biscuit? We’re going to go ahead and say no, especially since the buttery, crumbly bread is a perfect addition to any meat-and-three in the south. Cornbread is good, hot chicken in Nashville, but the biscuit is Tennessee and we know just the way to celebrate. Have you ever visited the International Biscuit Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee? If you haven’t, you’re in for a treat.
In 2017, more than 20,000 people showed up in Knoxville to experience the world-renowned International Biscuit Festival. Full of good people, great food and infused with the musical heritage of Tennessee, this is one experience that you don't want to miss out on.
Biscuit Boulevard is the most popular aspect of the festival, where $15 gives you access to FIVE different biscuits served up from a variety of vendors. This year, you can walk, talk and eat down Biscuit Boulevard on Saturday, May 19th, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Biscuit Bazaar is open for vendors from across the state to hawk their wares and sell their biscuit mixes for you to take home. It's a great place to walk and talk, especially if you're looking to burn off a few of those biscuits you picked up on the boulevard.

The Biscuit Bash is a ticketed event that takes place the evening of Friday, May 18th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It that will let you meet authors who are there for the Southern Food Writing Conference. Buying books and eating sounds like a solid Friday night. Plus, the cocktails aren't too bad, either! The evening finishes with a live music performance.
There are multiple biscuit baking contests going on throughout the jam-packed weekend, the festival gaining such a following that the Travel Channel has now officially sponsored the event. If you have a little one that loves getting in the kitchen, you may want to check out the student competition.
There's really nothing more exciting than spending a sunny Saturday out and about in Knoxville. You'll want to buy tickets to all events ahead of time, and know that this is a rain or shine event. It won't be canceled, so you should plan on showing up!
