We may not all agree all the time, but it is pretty universally acknowledged that Portland is a beautiful place. Whether natural or man-made beauty, we have it covered here in the City of Roses. Check out our picks for the 12 places in the city that are better than anywhere else around and see if you agree.
1. Portland Japanese Garden
Said to be the most authentic Japanese Garden outside of Japan, this beauty is certainly an eye-catcher.
2. Portland Waterfront
There is no denying our waterfront's beauty. Whether you like bridges, beaches, or strolling along the waterfront, Portland has you covered.
3. Forest Park
One of the largest urban parks in the country, it is easy to escape the city into this picturesque location.
4. Mt Tabor
Our park on an extinct volcano is incredibly scenic and peaceful. Stroll the trails, walk the stairs, or play a game of basketball in this lovely location for a truly Portland day.
5. Crystal Springs Rhododendron
There are flowers and foliage to see year round here, and this hidden garden is always worth a visit.
6. Tanner Springs Park
This small park in the Pearl proves that size isn't really that important. The tiny park is less than an acre, but an amazingly peaceful place to enjoy a few quiet moments.
7. Sauvie Island
Our favorite place to pick fruit, pumpkins and enjoy rural life is just miles away and unlike anywhere else.
8. Jamison Square
This lovely fountain in the city that doubles as a swimming splash ground for children in the summer is a wonderful urban escape.
9. Lovejoy Fountain
Hidden from street view, this fountain is only accessible by a pedestrian walkway, making it one of the few remaining "secret" spots around town and so perfect for a quick respite from the city.
10. Portland International Rose Test Garden
Our premier attraction, the rose garden really does look and smell as good as you would think and is one of the best in the country.
11. Council Crest Park
The views from this westside park are stunning and make it one of the best picnic, photo, and relaxation spots in the city.
12. Tilikum Crossing
Our pedestrian and transit bridge is not only one-of-a-kind in function, but also looks pretty stunning along the river.
