Wailua River State park is home to the Wailua Complex, a National Historic Landmark and gorgeous natural haven.

Pōhaku Hoʻohānau (birthing stone) and Pōhaku Piko (umbilical stone) are part of the Holoholokū Heiau complex in the park.
This was where high-ranking women would give birth. They would also and bury their afterbirth and umbilical cords at this sacred place.

The park also includes two scenic waterfalls: ‘Opaeka‘a Falls and Wailua Falls.
Walking through the park's Fern Grotto is an almost otherworldly experience.
