City Kansas and rural Kansas people are almost two different kinds. We do have a ton in common as Kansans, but there’s just some things you won’t know if you live in the city. Johnson County and most of our bigger cities have a lot of great, well-meaning people—but sometimes, they just don’t understand the rest of the state. Here are a few things that rural Kansas would like to remind the rest of us.
Our schools are great even in our small towns. We aren't all farmers and ranchers, but even us regular folk in small towns are just as smart. Agriculture is one subject we'll be teaching you something about.
We've got tons of local history museums and a great museum full of fossils called the Sternberg Museum of Natural History. It'll blow your mind.

Western Kansas might be known as a drier, flatter version of the rest of Kansas, but we get a lot of snow due to our proximity to Nebraska and Colorado.
We all have local churches that hold maybe 100 people comfortably, but there are also huge churches full of ornate carvings and even paintings. You just have to look around to find our beauty.
