With so many waterways throughout Maryland, there are hundreds of bridges everywhere, some of which you can read about here . There’s one in particular near Baltimore that is worth seeing in person for its sheer uniqueness. However, if you’re afraid of heights or anything a bit shaky, maybe sit this one out.
Patapsco Valley State Park sprawls across areas of Baltimore County and Howard County. It's a great spot for hiking and camping. It's also home to this remarkable swinging bridge.
This is one of two swinging bridges found in the park and although most visitors are eager to cross, others become a bit unnerved. Although the bridge is now reinforced, it shakes with each and every step.
When several people try crossing at once, it moves and sways. Look down below, and you can see the Patapsco River between each wooden plank.
Don't worry. This structure is perfectly safe and is actually quite scenic throughout the year, especially when autumn arrives. Put it on your Maryland bucket list and if you're afraid of heights, deep breathing helps.
