Charlotte has a number of cider mills and cideries less than a two hour drive from our city, and they are great places to visit in the fall when the trees are changing and air is cool and crisp.

Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill is located in York, South Carolina, just 35 miles southwest of Charlotte. A family owned orchard, Windy Hill offers guests homemade hard cider, fresh pressed apple cider, and tons of tasty apple products.
It is the perfect place to visit if you are interested in trying different fresh made ciders while enjoying the beautiful view of the orchards. Apple Hill Orchard & Cider Mill is located in Morganton, about an hour and half away from Charlotte in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Apple Hill Orchard & Cider Mill is a great day trip or spot to spend the afternoon when you're looking for an activity that will keep you busy for a few hours.

Red Clay Ciderworks is a cidery that opened in Charlotte in 2015. Charlotte's first cidery, Red Clay Ciderworks offers guests a variety of delicious home brewed ciders and fun brewery-type atmosphere in which to enjoy them.
Clean and crisp, Queen City Common is a semi-dry cider with medium carbonation. It is easily enjoyed all year long and is Red Clay Ciderworks' flagship cider. If you are a cider drinker, Red Clay Ciderworks is a great place to add to your list of places in Charlotte where you can enjoy the delicious, bubbly beverage.

GoodRoad Ciderworks is another Charlotte cidery located on Southside Drive, near Southend. GoodRoad Ciderworks is known for their hand-crafted ciders and meads, and it's a great place to stop in if you're interested in tasting and learning about the cider making process.
On any given Saturday, you can head out to enjoy your favorite cider with your neighbors, catch local music, and even go on a tour if you desire. Located near other popular breweries and distilleries in Charlotte, this is a great place to start a brewery hop this weekend.

Sky Top Orchard is a little bit further than others on this list; it's located in Flat Rock, NC just under two hours from Charlotte.
Sky Top Orchard is open throughout the fall season and offers beautiful mountain views, delicious apple cider (including hard varieties), and all the bushels of apples for purchase you could imagine. Regular tours of the apple press are led throughout the day and Sky Top Hard Cider is available in the gift shop to take home. A great place for kids (for the non-hard cider varieties, of course), this spot should be on your road trip list this fall.

Bull City Ciderworks is another cool cidery located in Lexington, NC, just a little over an hour's drive from Charlotte.
Open every Thursday through Sunday, Bull City Ciderworks offers regular cidery tours, as well as live music every Sunday. They have 16 taps, all with specialty hard ciders and beers, and their taproom is a fun place to hang - they offer games like cornhole to keep you entertained! Children and dogs are welcome, so this is a great place to stop-in for a drink or to just relax the next time you're in the area.
