Like other states, Alabama is filled with many large cities that receive tens of thousands of visitors each year. In addition to these larger cities, Alabama is also home to several smaller towns that deserve a second look, including the 10 underrated towns listed below. How many of them have you visited?
Childersburg, which is located in Talladega County, has a history that dates back to 1540 and claims to be the "Oldest Continually Occupied City in America." Kymulga Grist Mill Park and DeSoto Caverns are Childersburg's two main attractions.
Abbeville was founded in 1823 and is the county seat of Henry County. This charming town has less than 3,000 residents, and its most famous resident of all is Huggin' Molly.

Mooresville, which was incorporated in 1818, in located in Limestone County and is one of Alabama's most charming small towns. With less than 60 residents, the entire town of Mooresville is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Mooresville is also home to Alabama's oldest operational post office, which was built in 1840.

Wetumpka is the county seat of Elmore County and has less than 7,000 residents. Two of Wetumpka's most popular attractions are the Wetumpka Impact Crater and the historic Bibb Graves Bridge.
Magnolia Springs is located on Alabama's beautiful Gulf Coast in Baldwin County. It's also the only town in the United States that has a year-round postal mail delivery water route. This is the one feature that makes Magnolia Springs truly unique.

Evergreen, which is nicknamed "The Emerald City," is the county seat of Conecuh County. This charming town, which has less than 4,000 residents, offers a variety of outdoor adventures.

Florala, which is located in Covington County, is situated along the Alabama–Florida state line. Florala has less than 2,000 residents, and one of its main attractions is beautiful Lake Jackson.
Haleyville is located in both Winston and Marion counties. Incorporated in 1889, this small town is responsible for 9-1-1. On February 16, 1968, the first ever 9-1-1 phone call was made from Haleyville.
