We recently profiled the counties with the least healthiest people in Illinois. But the news isn’t totally bad. Turns out, there are plenty of healthy people. Here are the ten counties in Illinois with the healthiest people.
1. Woodford County
In Woodford County, less than 10% of people are in poor to fair health. Length of life is longer than the rest of the state. Low birthweight rates are lower than the rest of the state. Additionally, excessive drinking rates are less than the rest of the country.
2. Kendall County
In Kendall County, only 11% of people in the county are in poor to fair health. Low birthweight rates are much less than the rest of the state. Adult smoking rates are lower than in the rest of the state. And people in Kendall County are more physically active than people in the rest of the state.
3. DuPage County
In DuPage County, adult smoking rates are significantly lower than the rest of the state, and adult obesity rates are lower. Less than 20% of people are physically inactive, lower than the rest of the state. And low birthweight rates are lower than the rest of the state.
4. Clinton County
People in poor to fair health are right around 13% in Clinton County, which is lower than the rate for the rest of Illinois. Adult smoking rates are lower than average, too. And low birthweight rates are lower than the rest of the state.
5. Kane County
Adult smoking rates are lower than the rest of the state, and so are low birthweight rates. Only 12% of people are in poor to fair health in Kane County.
6. Shelby County
In Shelby County, only 9% of adults are in poor to fair health. Quality of mental health is higher than in the rest of the state. And low birthweight rates are lower than in the rest of the state.
7. Brown County
Low birthweight rates are lower than the rest of the state. Only 11% are uninsured. Additionally, the physical environment in Brown County is better than the rest of the state.
8. Schuyler County
In Schuyler County, the quality of the physical environment is better than the rest of the state, including air pollution. Low birthweight rates are lower than in the rest of Illinois.
9. McDonough County
In McDonough County, only 11% of the county is in poor to fair health. Low birthweight rates are lower than the rest of the state. The physical environment is better than the rest of the state, including air pollution.
10. Hancock County
In Hancock County, fewer people are in poor to fair health than in the rest of Illinois. Low birthweight rates are much lower than the rest of the state. And more people are insured than the rest of the state.
