If there’s one beverage Hawaii is known for, it’s coffee. After all, Hawaii is the only American state with land able to grow coffee. And while we love all of the incredible coffee farms you’ll find across the Hawaiian Islands – there is one variety that has become world-famous. Grown in a small section of fertile volcanic soil on Hawaii Island’s Kona coast, Kona coffee is definitely a cut above any coffee you can find, well, pretty much anywhere. And while there countless famous and popular farms found in this area — like Greenwell Farms — there’s a little-known gem found off the beaten path that serves amazing coffee floats.

Yes, you read that right: coffee floats. It’s like a root beer float, but instead of root beer, it’s coffee or espresso, and instead of plain vanilla ice cream, you have a variety of flavor options like chocolate and coffee. And let me tell you, it is just as delicious as it sounds.

Part caffeine fix, part dessert, this mouthwatering creation is easily one of the best things you’ll consume while on Hawaii Island.... There are a ton of people who drink coffee with their dessert, so it makes sense that it would be delicious AS a dessert. Seriously, why haven’t we ever heard of this tasty treat before?

Located in the rural area of Napo’opo’o on Hawaii Island near Captain Cook, the cooperative is made up of nearly three dozen hard-working farmer members who grow and hand pick their own Kona Coffee and Macadamia nuts.

It’s totally off the radar, there aren’t many photographs, and if we’re being honest, the only reason I heard about it was from the recommendation of a lovely worker nearby at Big Island Bees, another must-visit stop in the area.

The Kona Pacific Farmers Cooperative is located at 82-5810 Napoopoo Road in Captain Cook and is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, check out their website.
