Many historic towns in Kentucky were originally formed for a very specific reason. In Oldham County, the small city of Pewee Valley was a stop along a bustling railroad, and the tracks are still in use today. This timeless town is so small that if you blink, you may miss it, but you won’t want to for its interesting history and natural beauty.
The small town of Pewee Valley is located off of I-71, northeast of Louisville.
A short four years later in 1856, the name was changed to Pewee Valley after the bird, the Eastern Wood Pewee. Today, the town is still nestled next to the train tracks, which remain in operation.
