The fun, family-friendly park Fremonters know and love today has a rather fascinating past. It sits on what was once the site of the city cemetery, and many of the city's founders were buried there. When the population began to outgrow Fremont's original cemetery, the remains interred there were exhumed and moved to a new location. Legend has it that some of the bodies were left behind, and today you can see their ghosts roaming the park after dark.

The site of this 1876 battle commemorates the one and only casualty to occur there that day. However, the ghosts that frequent this site don't belong to that one slain warrior. Rather, the creepy green mist and sounds of phantom footsteps that many experience here are said to be other Native Americans.

The historic Argo Hotel dates back almost to the very beginning of the town of Crofton itself. It is said to be home to a number of spirits, possibly because the hotel was used as a medical clinic for a number of years.

This haunted road just outside of Geneva, Nebraska is allegedly home to at least two ghosts: the eponymous Smitty and an unnamed young boy who hung himself nearby. Many people who have driven the road at night have reported some very odd experiences.

Although this 1901 building was originally a hotel, it now operates as a restaurant. Its past is full of several tales of onsite deaths, and those spirits may still roam the structure today. According to the legend, a young lady was trapped in a speakeasy tunnel beneath the hotel and died a slow, agonizing death of thirst over the course of several days. The Speakeasy is a delightful gourmet restaurant that's kind of in the middle of nowhere. It's worth the drive just to eat there, but hearing the tale of Faceless Fred, the resident ghost, is an added bonus. According to the story, a local man named Fred invoked his wife's ire by sleeping with another woman. His wife exacted her revenge by killing Fred, cutting off his face, and dumping his body in a well near what is now the restaurant. Patrons and employees have reported seeing and hearing a ghostly presence. The restaurant staff embraces the legend, and there's even a painting of Fred in the building.
