You can easily find a great restaurant in DC. We have many dining options available on every corner but every now and then, it’s nice to get outside of the city. When you want to take a breather from city life and escape to the country, you can do so without sacrificing great food. We found an amazing restaurant that’s worth the drive from DC.
Field & Main Restaurant is found nearly an hour away from DC in Marshall, Virginia. This small town might be quite remote, but completely full of charm.
Staying true to its rural roots, Field & Main focuses on regional foods and farm to table dining. The vegetables and meat all come from local farms and the wines come from Virginia vineyards.
Much of the food is cooked on a wood-fired hearth that diners can see from the restaurant.
The restaurant is located in a building that once housed a restaurant that served the community more than two hundred years ago. The owners renovated the building in 2014. The interior is welcoming and features gorgeous wood floors and elegant decor.
Field & Main serves Southern inspired favorites like deviled eggs, pork chops, and roast.
They are also known for excellent seafood dishes including oysters and scallops.
Field & Main is also open for brunch. Diners can enjoy breakfast favorites like french toast, omelets, and waffles.
Field & Main’s goal is to be a tribute to its community, both in its food and its welcoming atmosphere.
So the next time DC is getting to you, hop into your car and take a drive out to the peaceful countryside and stop into Field & Main. Prepared to be wowed by the food and relaxed by the end of your meal.
