1. Visit the most haunted village in Ohio.
Within Wayne Township in Warren Country, you’ll find the village Waynesville. It’s a quaint, historic town with a population of approximately 2,834—but it’s rumored to have more than 30 haunted places. This seemingly normal small town was actually deemed "the most haunted village in Ohio" by author Chris Woodyard' of the popular "Haunted Ohio" books.

2. Tour a haunted battlefield.
Ohio’s War of 1812 battlefield is as haunted as it is historic. Fort Meigs in Perrysburg is a popular historic destination, but it’s also home to some restless spirits that still walk the grounds late at night. Each year in October the educational center hosts a ghost walk that features some of the most popular ghost sightings and stories surrounding the fort.

3. Explore the ghost town of Moonville.
The abandoned coal mining town of Moonville near southeastern Ohio’s Brown Township (in Vinton County) was founded in 1856, when the Marietta and Cincinnati railroad ran through the area’s woods. Little remains of the abandoned mining town except for a few foundations, a nearby cemetery and an old railroad tunnel—a tunnel supposedly haunted by ghosts of locals who died from being struck by passing trains.

4. Visit an abandoned amusement park.
Tucked away in Medina County there’s a rusted, long forgotten ferris wheel. What what was once Chippewa Lake Park is now just a few piles of amusement park ruins and the lone ferris wheel. 5. Tour a former asylum.
What was once the Athens Lunatic Asylum is now owned by Ohio University, but parts of the facility still hold shadows, stains and spirits of former mental patients who often suffered from violent treatments such as lobotomies. Today, the facility houses an art museum and university offices and the old tuberculosis ward is no longer standing—but that doesn't stop students and visitors alike from daring to explore the place known for several paranormal sightings and the beginning of the infamous lobotomy procedure.
