Cemeteries are supposed to be peaceful places where the dead rest and the living go to pay their respects. Salt Lake City Cemetery is a beautiful spot with big, shady trees and great city views. It’s definitely a peaceful place…but there are many chilling stories of unexplained phenomena here, too.
More than 125,000 people are buried in this 220-acre cemetery, and it's a beautiful place with some incredible city views. But some people say that they've seen more than they bargained for here.
As their car comes around a bend, the headlights illuminate a man walking along the side of the road. But once the car gets closer, he disappears.

Some visitors report seeing people wearing clothing from that time period wandering through the cemetery, and there are certainly plenty of pioneers buried here.

Some visitors say that they've seen children running and laughing in broad daylight, only to disappear into thin air. Others have seen a small boy wandering through the headstones, crying. As they approach him to see if they can help, he also disappears.
"Emo's Grave" is said to be haunted. If you light a candle and walk around his crypt three times, then look into the window, you'll supposedly see Jacob's face peering back at you. Jacob E. Moritz was a businessman and founder of the Salt Lake Brewery, but he died in 1910 while traveling in Germany.
A young woman wearing a white dress has been spotted in several different parts of the cemetery. No one is sure who she is, but she seems to be peacefully wandering around in full daylight.
Visitors report hearing the laughter of children, soft moaning sounds that seem to follow them, and crying or sobbing. Some people have even heard ear-piercing screams.
Other paranormal activity includes orbs and strange, bobbing lights that appear to be lanterns.
