These top eight, in no particular order, are not just symbols of St. Louis, but a part of who we are.
The Gateway Arch is the best symbol of St. Louis. Known all over the world as an architectural marvel and a sign of welcoming.
Anheuser Busch is known as a beer maker in St. Louis, but their beer Budweiser is drank all over the world.

The Mississippi River is not just an iconic symbol of St. Louis, but the original reason people came here so long ago. Shipping up and down the river was the best and quickest way to move cargo for much of St. Louis's history.

Most of the time if someone says "Oh, Missouri" after you tell them you're from St. Louis, it is not admiration you hear. Sure, we have lots of farms and open spaces here... they're two really great things to have in your state! And, whatever the books say now about the origins of our state motto, it really just means that we want to see proof before we believe; also a good thing not to trust without proof!
