The majority of people you’ll meet in Nebraska are good, law-abiding, decent folks, and we like to think it’s because this is a rather wholesome place to live. We do, however, have our less-wholesome side. The people at FindTheHome.com measured how many “vice” businesses can be found in each county in Nebraska. A “vice” business is defined as a bar, liquor store, casino/gaming facility, or adult entertainment establishment. These are the counties with the highest number of vice businesses per 10,000 residents.
Although Madison County has the 10th highest number of vice businesses in the state at 2.29 per 10,000 residents, this number is just about spot-on average when compared to both Nebraska and the rest of the US.
Saunders County offers its residents 2.4 vice businesses per 10,000 people, putting it just a tiny bit higher than the state average and almost totally even with the national average.
Adams County is home to 3.19 vice businesses per 10,000 people, leaving it with totals at 43% higher than the Nebraska average and 33% higher than the national average.
Coming in at #5, Dodge County hosts 3.27 vice businesses per 10,000 people. This puts it at 47% higher than the state average and 36% higher than the US average.
Lincoln County's 3.60 vice businesses per 10,000 people put it at #4 in the state. It has 62% more of these businesses than the state average and 50% more than the national average.
With 4.54 vice businesses per 10K people, Red Willow has twice as many as the Nebraska average and 89% more than the national average. Way to go, Red Willow?
I’m sure everyone balances out their drinking and other “sinful” activities by living a good, clean life most of the time, right? Were any of these a surprise to you? Let us know in the comments.
