Drone Footage Captured At This Abandoned Massachusetts Hospital Is Truly Grim
There’s something about abandoned places in Massachusetts that inspires the imagination as well as plenty of goosebumps. In this drone video by YouTube user “Matt L,” we’re taken high above a grim site of modern ruin. This abandoned hospital in Boston is plagued with a dark history and is, today, as eerie as it is strangely beautiful. Boston Regional Medical Center was a former hospital in Stoneham. It was founded in 1899 and was originally known as New England Sanitarium and also New England Memorial Hospital. The hospital was a Seventh-day Adventist facility and had 187 beds. In 1999, the hospital closed for financial reasons. It has been left empty and abandoned for almost 20 years. The interior is hazardous due to high levels of asbestos, but that doesn’t stop some brave souls from checking it out anyway.
Take a look at the drone video below to see a bird’s-eye view of this abandoned hospital in Massachusetts in all its spooky glory:
Urban exploration can be very dangerous, so always make sure you are legally able to enter a property and that you’re dressed appropriately for poking around abandoned places. Do not trespass, vandalize, or otherwise alter these places in any way; it’s very important that we keep them intact and interesting for explorers to enjoy for decades to come. There’s a certain kind of respect owed to these old structures like the New England Sanitarium; their value is in their history, the symbolism behind their existence, and so much more.
