Tennessee is a place of great history, and with that history come some pretty crazy legends. History has a way of haunting the present, and these seven stories are perfect examples — some interesting and some terrifying. From Elvis to the ghosts of Confederate soldiers, here are some of the scariest and wildest stories to ever come out of our fair state.
Theories about the "death" of Elvis have been circulating for a long time, but one of the more interesting legends revolves around Nashville's famous RCA Studio B. The studio still houses the piano that Elvis considered his favorite, and it's rumored that his ghost still haunts the building and a voice resembling his can be heard faintly in the background on some songs still recorded there today.
The town of Adams, Tennessee is home to one of the creepiest legends in the country. According to the legend, the farm was plagued by a witch that lived in a cave on the property. Even famous Tennesseean Andrew Jackson was spooked, famously saying, "I had rather face the entire British Army than to spend another night with the Bell Witch."

The Sensebaugh Tunnel is the site of one of Tennessee's most infamous murders. The tunnel is reportedly haunted by ill-intentioned spirits and has been the sight of multiple satanic rituals. Drivers have reported their cars shutting down suddenly, apparitions, and loud shrieking in the tunnel.

Skinned Tom is the legend of a man who began having an affair with a married woman. The woman's husband found out and skinned Tom alive. The police only ever found Tom's skin, and it's said that he terrorizes adulterous couples to this day to warn them of the consequences.
This middle school in Maryville is said to be haunted. You can reportedly hear a girl crying in the halls, and ghosts have been known to attempt to drag children away from the playground. The grounds are haunted because the school was built on top of an old cemetery, and the souls are simply trying to win back the eternal peace that was stolen from them.
