You may be surprised to learn that while the C&O Canal ends in Cumberland, the trail actually extends further, all the way to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This route is called the Great Allegheny Passage and it's perfect for cycling. The Maryland portion passes by many railroad tracks, providing neat views of steam engines.
