The Sinister Story Behind This Popular Indiana University Will Give You Chills

Indiana University in Bloomington is a popular state college, and the largest university in the state. This beloved school is full of happy memories for many Hoosiers.

Unless you've attended this university, you may not be aware of all of the alleged haunted spots on campus. In fact, this one university has several paranormal sites, all with their own sinister stories.

One haunted spot is the Indiana Memorial Union. This site has two different types of hauntings, one from a phantom dog and another from ghosts of those who committed suicide. The phantom dog was allegedly murdered near this building, while the suicide victims jumped to their death from the top floor.

The IU auditorium is also rumored to be haunted. Here, many claim that a worker who fell to his death from scaffolding during the building's construction still lingers within the grounds. Many even claim there is a blood stain that continues to appear on the stage, even though the flooring has been changed through the years.

Many other buildings have claims to paranormal activity like the Career Development Center (where illegal abortions were once performed), the Folklore and Ethnomusicology office, and Read Hall. Read Hall, they claim, is haunted by two different ghosts: one, known as the girl in the yellow dress, is the ghost of a woman who was murdered by her boyfriend. The other, known as Paula, threw herself down the stairs to her death. Legend has it that on the anniversary of her death, December 12th, students hear her blood chilling scream ringing through the hall.

Another popular ghost legend refers to the Woman in Black, who is reported to be spotted often near East Third Street. Though the sight of her can be rather spooky, all reports indicate that she's rather harmless.
