Located in the Columbia River Gorge, The Emerald Falls-Gorton Creek Falls Hike is an overlooked hidden gem. The trail is only one mile long and leads through a lush green forest past two lovely waterfalls: Gorton Creek Falls and Emerald Falls.
It's a great hike for a sunny day, or in the fall when the forest is transformed by a canopy of vibrant golden leaves.
Beginning at the Wyeth Trailhead, the short trail weaves through the woods alongside Gorton Creek, passing lovely little tumbles of water cascading through the moss covered rocks. Early on, you'll pass the Wyeth / Gorge trail junction, where you'll want to continue straight.
Soon you'll reach Emerald Falls, a picturesque 10-foot waterfall that looks straight out of a fairytale.
You can turn around and head back here, or if you're feeling adventurous you can scramble about 300 feet up the creek to reach the beautiful Gorton Creek Falls, a 115-foot cascade hidden away in the forest.
When you're ready, turn around and head back the way you came. As always, remember to be respectful of your surroundings and to leave no trace behind.
