This City Near Denver Was Just Named The Safest In The Entire Country
We as Denverites (and Coloradans in general) are very fortunate to live in a fairly safe city in terms of crime and natural disasters… however, when one of our suburbs is named THE safest city in ALL of America, that is something to celebrate:
The National Council for Home Safety and Security Trade Association just released their list of the Top 100 Safest Cities in America and named Thornton as their #1 pick! Citing the most recent statistics from the FBI Uniform Crime Report, the Home Safety and Security Trade Association ranked cities with a population of over 50,000 based on the number of reported violent and property crimes, as well as officer count, in which Thornton (population 133,188) reported the least as 325 violent and 3,373 property crimes. In addition to the statistics, the Council mentioned Thornton’s stellar parks system, noting that Thornton “contains over 80 miles of trails for hiking and bird watching.” Coming in behind Thornton were Greenwich, Connecticut; Weston, Florida; Johns Creek, Georgia; and Sammamish, Washington.
Thornton is located 10 miles north of Denver and is the 6th most populous city in Colorado. Incorporated in 1956, Thornton boasts more than 80 parks, 2,000 acres of open space, and yes — a whopping 80 miles of trails.
