This Minnesota City Was Named The Best Place To Live In America

While we may have a little bit bias, it’s always reaffirming when we receive praise by out-of-towners that one of our cities is considered to be the best. This year the folks over at Livability named one the North Star State’s destinations one of the best places to live! Any guesses as to which city had the honor of taking home this title? Keep reading to find out.
The website dedicated to critiquing cities compiled a list of the Top 100 Best Places To Live in 2017, and Minnesota's very own Rochester took home the top spot.
Using cities that have a population between 20,000 and 350,000, the website used a total of 40 data points to determine which cities were the best to live in. Taking into accountability factors like economics, housing, demographics, education and health care, Rochester was once again named the best city to live in America.
Rochester earned a great deal of points because of its Health Care scene, with the famed Mayo Clinic drawing in more than two million visitors to the city each year.
Recently the Mayo Clinic has received even further praise after studies have shown that the clinic has contributed roughly $28 billion dollars to America's economy and has supported nearly 170,000 jobs around the country. The buildings add a beautiful and eye-catching touch to the city, all while doing a great deal of good for those in need of treatment.
All around the city you can find gorgeous structures like the Plummer Building, a piece of architecture that's also part of the Mayo Clinic's campus.
This is just one of the many National Historic Landmarks that you can find around Rochester. It's amazing buildings like these that help hold together the city's history and showcase its beauty.
Another reason so many people love living in Rochester? This city offers outdoor activities and natural beauty that will have you longing to spending time outside.
When you picture most cities, concrete structures often tend to come to mind. But in Rochester, residents have the pleasure of being able to visit amazing places like the Quarry Hill Nature Center. The nature center is a 329-acre park that's home to handfuls of species of live animals that are native to Minnesota, as well as a historical man-made cave and nature trails that are great to explore with the family.
The booming city is also known for having a variety of new businesses and forms of entertainment, all while doing an amazing job of preserving its history.
With a population of over 110,000 residents, the city was recognized for being one of the best because of other factors like its diverse range of affordable housing while also offering those living here a great range of ways to stay entertained. From bus and food tours that will show you around Rochester to amazing places like the History Center of Olmstead County pictured above, you have the perfect mix of old and new.
