Minneapolis is a great city, but it’s impossible to deny that Minneapolitans have some strange habits and beliefs. While Austin, Texas may claim the motto “Austin Weird,” we think Minneapolis should have it’s own brand: “Minneapolis Weird.” Here are 11 things that Minneapolitans do that seem completely crazy to everyone else in the country:
We know you think it's crazy that we embark on adventures outdoors with all of the snow, ice, and insanely cold temperatures. We survive with on warm blood, parkas, and we cheat by walking through miles of downtown Minneapolis' skyways. There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes. Bundle up.
Minneapolitans will defend the name of this children's game to the death. If you ever tried to say 'goose' instead of 'grey duck' as a kid, you were probably mocked for it.

Was it Matt's Bar or was it the 5-8 Club? We'll never know, but every Minneapolitan has an opinion and is sticking to it.

In other parts of the world, a goodbye might just include a handshake, a wave, or a hug, but Minnesota has taken it to an entirely different level. We're friendly, chatty people, and we hate to leave our friends and family... even if only for a short time. Saying goodbye is an artform and will take anywhere between ten minutes to an hour and a half. In fact, we actually timed it at our last get together. Fourteen minutes. It's the new record for shortest goodbye ever (and we felt a little guilty about it).
So you're saying it's negative 10 degrees outside with a negative 20 degree windchill? I guess it's time for Minneapolitans to eat some ice cream! It might be crazy to you, but we like to live on the edge... of hypothermia.

Our teams aren't losers, we're just having a rough season (or two... or twelve...). Minneapolis' U.S. Bank Stadium will be hosting the 2018 Super Bowl, but we're almost positive the Minnesota Vikings won't be playing. That doesn't mean Minneapolitans won't root for the Vikings every step of the way, even after multiple losses in a row. Does that make us loyal or crazy? Maybe both, but we prefer to think of ourselves as true fans.

It has been nearly a century since the Prohibition era, but liquor sales are FINALLY legal on Sundays. Most of Minneapolis celebrated by waiting in line all day so they could buy the liquor of their choice, just for the novelty of it.
