That’s right; the Old Country Store in Lorman has garnered a ton of recognition for its famous fried chicken. The Old Country is located in the small town of Lorman on US 61 between Port Gibson and Natchez, just off the Natchez Trace Parkway.
As the name implies, the building, which dates back to the 1800s, was originally a general store. Today, it’s run by Arthur Davis and known as the home of "Mr. D’s heavenly fried chicken."
Despite its remote location, the restaurant is usually packed – a tell-tale sign of a good eatery.

It's also still a functioning store. The walls are lined with shelves filled with everything from antiques to homemade items, making for a truly unique experience.
Since opening the Old Country Store, Mr. D.’s mouthwatering chicken has been in both regional and national publications and has been referred to as the "best in the world" on countless occasions.
The delicious fried chicken is part of an all-you-can-eat buffet, which includes a slew of southern classics, such as greens, macaroni and cheese, field peas, and dirty rice, to name a few.
You’ll have a choice between peach and blackberry – either way, you can’t go wrong.
While the entire buffet is sure to please, it’s the chicken you’ll rave about. And that’s completely understandable. According to Mr. D., "nothing upstages the fried chicken."
