Delaware gets the short end of the stick in a lot of categories! We don’t have any mountains, our traffic is pretty bad, we aren’t quite north and we aren’t quite south… but there’s a lot to love about our little state. So the next time someone asks you about your home state, use any of the following to brag about Delaware:
On Decmeber 8, 1787, Delaware became the first state to ratify the Constutition. Delaware voted unanimously to adopt the document, becoming the first state of the union. It took the rest of the colonies nearly a year to jump on board. So brag about it, Delaware - we are proud to be the First State.
Delaware's beaches - including Rehoboth, Bethany and Dewey - are among the most popular in the country. There's a good reason for that! All of our Atlantic Ocean beach towns feature mouthwatering restaurants, unforgettable nature center, family-friendly events and of course, soft sand and salt air.

On the night of July 1, 1776, the Continental Congress was deadlocked in a tie regarding whether to sign the Declaration of independence. Despite being very sick, Rodney rode 70 miles from Dover to Philadelphia to cast a tie-breaking vote. Oh, it was in the middle of a thunderstorm, too. Why does Paul Revere get all the credit for midnight rides?
Round dumplings are un-American! Or at least, un-Delmarvan. Slippery dumplings are the way to go, and we get it right here in Delaware. Try them at Jimmy's in Bridgeville or Rigby's in Rehoboth.

There's no question about it - oysters from the Delaware Bay area are the best in the world! Even Maryland oysters can't quite compare. Delaware oysters are the best, hands down.
