If you haven’t visited Kramerbooks & Afterwords yet, you need to add it to your list.
Kramerbooks is a local favorite that has been in DC since 1976. From the outside, it looks like every other bookstore in the district.
And once you step inside, it might still look like every other bookstore!
They have a huge selection of books. You can find everything from the latest bestseller to lesser known nonfiction books, children’s books and so much more. You can spend hours browsing through the shelves.
But as you walk deeper and deeper into the store, you will stumble into something else. You’ll find the cutest little restaurant hiding right inside the store!
Afterwords is so much more than the typical cafe you’ll find in some bookstores. It is a full serve restaurant with a full menu and a bar!
It’s located in the back of the store underneath a glass atrium, giving it a bright and airy feeling.
There’s even a patio where you can dine al fresco during the warmer months.
Afterwords serves delicious classic American dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night!
They have everything from burgers to salads, fresh seafood and fantastic steaks.
And you will not want to miss out on dessert either!
The bookstore and restaurant serve early birds and night owls! They open at 7:30am daily and are open until 1:00am on the weekdays and 3:00am on the weekends.
It’s a perfect place to come for an event, to browse the latest selections or enjoy a fantastic meal. The best part is, you can do all of that without ever leaving the store!
