Missouri is certainly not the first state you think of when looking to hit the beach this summer. However, we do have some great little beaches along our lakes and rivers. It’s pretty uncommon to find a sandy beach here in the Show Me State but this time we have two amazing sandy beaches to tell you about! Head to the west side of the state to Smithville, Missouri and find Smithville Lake. With two public beaches, you can fill your summer with amazing memories spent building sandcastles and splashing around. So what are you waiting for…time to hit the beach!
Just about 40 minutes north of Kansas City is Smithville Lake.
While these beaches may not be a secret to locals, if you haven't had the opportunity to visit Smithville Lake you won't regret making the trip. These beautiful sand beaches are a rarity in our land locked state so don't miss out on these great summer spots!
Find Smithville Lake at 17201 Paradesian, Smithville. From there find Camp Branch Beach located on the east side of the lake within Camp Branch Bauman Park. While you can locate Little Platte beach within Little Platte Park on the west side of the lake and is accessed from 180th Street.
