After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She lives on the west side but is constantly taking mini-road trips across the island and visits the neighboring islands whenever she can getaway. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
From stunning white sand beaches with crystalline waters to majestic mountain peaks towering above the clouds, The Hawaiian Islands are home to some of the most devastatingly gorgeous spots in the United States, and maybe even the world. While many of these spots are well-known, there are still countless hidden gems found throughout the islands just waiting to be discovered; Twin Falls, found along Maui’s famous Road to Hana, is just one such place.
As you are driving along Maui’s Hana Highway from the north, the first notable attraction you will discover is this picturesque string of waterfalls, also known as Hololawa Falls.
When you come to a fork in the path, head left, where you will be required to cross over a masonry weir and wade through the stream to reach the main attraction.
There are two main streams in this area, and more exploration will lead you to other unrivaled natural wonders. Just remember that - if you get lost - all you have to do is follow either stream downstream to make it back to safety.
The waterfalls themselves might be short - and many guidebooks overlook the pools for other more accessible attractions - but the picturesque pools and cascading waterfalls are well worth the short hike.
As always, bring shoes with a good grip you don't mind getting muddy, plenty of water, a swimsuit and towel, and your camera - you won't want to miss these photo opps!
Near the parking lot, you will find the Twin Falls Farm Stand. This is not only a perfect spot to grab a post-hike snack, it is a can't miss along the Road to Hana.
