Washington DC is full of amazing things to do. It’s a city full of monuments, memorials, museums, theaters and park spaces. You can find art, culture, history and experiences in every corner of the district. But there is one place that stands out from all the rest. Hillwood Estate is a unique look into the fabulous life where art, history and beauty are all combined. You must visit this jaw dropping place in Washington DC.
In 1955, socialite Marjorie Merriweather Post bought Hillwood Estate. Filling her home with art and antiques, Ms. Post, eventually decided to turn her home into a museum to inspire and educate the public. Visitors can now explore the home, learn about the fascinating history of Marjorie Post and enjoy the gorgeous gardens.
One of Marjorie Post’s favorite pieces of her Russian art collection were the gorgeous Fabergé pieces she collected, including the famous Catherine the Great Easter Egg.
You can stroll through the Japanese Garden, the Friendship walk, the French parterre, the rose garden and many more. They also offer audio tours or a docent can be your guide to teach you about the different flowers and plants. The gardens are open year-round.
