Where This Awesome Connecticut Weekend Road Trip Will Take You Is Unforgettable
The weekend is your time to catch up with family, have fun, and hopefully travel. For some people it’s all about lounging, but I think this trip will convince you to get out there. This one is perfect for the young and the young at heart. With only 112 miles to conquer, the two cumulative hours of drive time puts the focus on the attractions (as it should be!). So pack your bags because you’ll want to do this one right away. But don’t forget to check out the map here so you know where you’re going!

Who doesn't love these prehistoric giants? Connecticut had its fair share of dinosaurs, and in some places you can still walk in their tracks. Experience them like never before on this two day exploration. Get a good night's sleep that Friday, because you'll want to head out early on Saturday to really take advantage.

The fossilized footprints aren't for show! You will see actual dinosaur footprints from the Jurassic period. The park is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year too, which means more activities for you! Take this opportunity to visit and partake in the interactive activities. You'll feel like a real archaeologist!

The dinosaur exhibit is new, and the center has enough additional activities that the trip won't seem too focused. You can take a break from dinosaur discovery to talk to robots and visit the rooftop garden before catching a 3D film. You will be overwhelmed with options here.

After splitting your day between those two awesome destinations, curl up in bed at the Mohegan Sun. The Native American theme throughout will crossover well with your dinosaur experience as you're greeted by nature, waterfalls, high ceilings and rustic finishes. Take an after dinner swim, or take a trip to the arcade for some nighttime fun.

Feel free to sleep in a little on Sunday, because this place is just a short drive from the hotel. But definitely make sure to have a big breakfast! At The Dinosaur Place you're invited to explore 60 acres of land, which includes 40 life size dinosaurs and an "active" volcano. Test your wits in the Dino Maze and even pan for gold. Adults usually leave this place just as amazed as the kids.

Grab some sandwiches from David's Place, a local favorite, and then head over to Gillette Castle for a late lunch. You will love wrapping up your weekend with these incredible views. After seeing the dinosaurs in the woods, this hilltop culmination will let you appreciate just how weird and amazing and beautiful Connecticut is.
It’s not quite Jurassic Park, but this weekend comes pretty close! Will you be taking this adventure?
