Connecticut's Tunnel Of Trees Is Positively Magical And You Need To Visit
If you like the idea of walking under a canopy of leaves on a quiet stretch of dirt path, you’ll love this! There’s a tunnel of trees in Connecticut, part of an easy hike to an incredible destination.

Every trail here is covered with trees, and you'll even come across a creek and a couple of bridges. But there's one path in particular that you don't want to miss.

1.78 miles one way, this easy hike is more of a walking path. The well kept dirt path is wide and flat, making it easy to traverse and even easier to share. It will take about 40 minutes to reach the end of this trail.

Between the easy path and the shade these trees provide, you'll barely work up a sweat. You might pass someone riding a horse, or more likely they'll pass you! But other than that, this path through the trees is unhindered by large crowds. If you can't find a friend to tag along with you, bring your dog instead. I'm sure they'll appreciate the views too.

No! It's a tunnel of trees! The last 100 yards of the trail are marked by the towering pines, oaks, ashes and maples. It's a gorgeous sight year-round, and incredibly quiet. If you're a local, you know you can pass under trees on nearly any drive just by taking a side road. But this place lets you pause and really take it in.

Another tunnel! When the trees come to an end you'll find yourself at the entrance to Steep Rock Railroad Tunnel. So bring a flashlight because the adventure continues. On hot days, use this place as an escape from the heat, as this abandoned tunnel acts as a cool cave. With so many sights to be had on this road, I sure am glad this journey is car free. It will give you the opportunity to really appreciate the trees, and even explore Connecticut's train history. It's a must visit!
